Key Changemakers

At GYCD, we bridge the gap between organizers and volunteers, youth activists and adult allies, journalists and youth leaders, and more. View the profiles below to get a sense of who our members are. We will update this page with the profiles of GYCD Changemakers who have made key contributions to the climate movement.

Hi! I’m Sofia and I’m a rising junior. I love volunteering in general but have spent most of my time volunteering with Reading Partners LA to tutor kids, Perfect Pet Rescue to help dogs get adopted, and have my own website called Kids’ Backyard! I haven’t done any specific environmental volunteering but I’ve always tried my best to be environmentally conscious and am always looking for new ways to help save our Earth!

Hi! My name is Rhea and I’m a rising junior in high school. I love having discussions about our environment and ways to combat climate change. I’m a part of an online community called The Conversationalist where we often have these types of discussions whether it be about social justice, the coronavirus, or our earth! I also volunteer for an organization called Bored of Boredom, where we tutor kids who need academic help and am creating my own podcast that centers on discussions about the science that surrounds us; the latest episode will be about climate change and the ways in which other countries use renewable energy.

Hi, I'm Paris! I'm 16 years old and I'm a rising junior! Most of the time that I’m volunteering it's with L.A. Works, which is an organization that creates different community outreach projects, focusing on areas in need, throughout Los Angeles. I haven’t been very involved in the climate change movement, so I’m really excited to be more active and take action!
