About the Challenge

Based on GYCD's Climate Action Framework, the Climate Challenge is designed to empower the individual to tackle climate change through a series of actionable steps.

Step 1

Decide if you want to be certified
We want to help you help the Earth. Whether helping the planet means becoming a Climate Changemaker, Climate Activist, or Climate Champion or printing the Challenge and sticking it on your fridge, we are here to support you. If you decide to apply for recognition, there are a few extra steps you need to complete before you can level up. To be recognized, you'll need to list yourself on our database so we can certify you in our network of Climate Allies, complete one or more levels of the challenge, and fill out a simple application every time you want to level up.

When you first list yourself on our database, you'll be a Climate Ally. If you successfully complete level 1, you will be a certified Climate Changemaker. When you complete level 2, you'll be a Climate Activist. Finally, if you decide to go for the gold and complete level 3, you will be a Climate Champion and be in the running for several awards at our annual awards ceremony.

Remember: you can start the Challenge at any time, but if you want to be eligible for our awards ceremony in late summer of 2021, you'll have to submit your level 3 application by mid-July (details coming soon)! We can't wait to see what you accomplish for our planet.

Step 2
List yourself on our database
It's easy to become a Climate Ally! Just follow the steps below:​
1. Check to see that you meet our criteria for Climate Allies here.
2. List yourself on our database by going to our homepage, hovering over the "Join Us!" button in the menu on the top right of the page and clicking "List Yourself." Just enter your name, email, a bit about you, and your social media accounts (optional) and you are good to go!

You are all set! Go ahead and move on to Step 3.

Apply for recognition
Once you have completed the Level 1 Checklist, please fill out the following short application form if you would like to be certified (see Step 1 for more information about the certification process). We will release the applications for the Climate Activist and Climate Champion certifications when we launch Levels 2 and 3.

If you have completed Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3, then you are eligible to win an award! When you finish your Level 3 project, you can apply (we will release the application when we release Level 3) for the Climate Awards, in addition to applying to be certified as a Climate Champion.
